The Importance of Integrating Across Multiple Construction Platforms

It seems like every day there is a new point solution that is introduced into the construction industry. Now each of these solutions address a unique challenge to team members on projects, however how they work together is critical. Every general contractor has a system of record that they want to run their projects through, for some it is Procore, others CMICProlog, or BIM360. It is critical that point solutions integrate into each of these solutions as to ensure that the single source of truth can be maintained on a project.

Use the right tool for the job

Now you’re probably asking yourself why wouldn’t we use the solution provided within our overarching project management solution if it is so important the data end up there. The answer is efficiency and effectiveness. Point solutions such as ours dive deep into specific workflows allowing them to be more flexible, more in depth and more efficient. This is why so many team members want to use them. But at the end of the day, they must integrate to ensure the data collected in the point solution can be utilized with other project management data.

Seamless flow of data through integration

Let’s take a look at why this data integration is so important. Our solution provides automated extraction of submittal data, ensuring that all required submittals are tracked, submitted and approved. Now if that information were to only live in our solution it would lack the ability to tie into other critical processes and data on the project. First of all submittal data is often times linked to schedule tasks, making it crucial for submittals be linked via the project management solution. It does not stop there though, think of how submittals play a role in QA/QC, field coordination, commissioning and turnover. There also may be many times when submittals need to be tied to RFI’s for additional information or coordination. Each of these record types and processes may be managed in a different solution and that is why we want to integrate with as many of them as possible.

Leverage best in class solutions in your tech stack

Many of our customers use different solutions depending on the workflow that they are trying to perform. That may mean they use Procore for project management and financials while utilizing BIM 360 for QA/QC and commissioning. For this reason alone they may need to integrate the submittal register data with both or at least portions of it.  That is why we have chosen to integrate with as many industry solutions as possible, allowing you to utilize our best in class specification processing solution no matter where that data may need to end up.

More and more each day we understand the importance of data on our projects. We don’t want our customers to have to choose between their PM solution and ours we want them to be able to leverage both. At the end of the day the data ends up where it should so it can continue throughout the submittal process and you can utilize one of the most efficient tools in the industry.
